NILES, Ohio -

Niles police have filed child endangering charges against a McDonald couple after finding a woman passed out in an SUV while two children sat in the back seat.

Officers investigating a report of a possible overdose in the Circle K parking lot on South Main Street Thursday say they found 32-year-old Candace Ware unconscious in the front seat of the vehicle.

Police say, two boys, ages two and four, were in the back seat.

Thirty-one-year-old Andrew Ladd was standing outside the SUV according to police who say they noticed a strong order of alcohol on his breath.

After rescue crews administered several doses of the opiate overdose reversal drug Narcan to Ware, she was transferred to Trumbull Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

Both Ware and Ladd have been charged with child endangering.

After police administered a field sobriety test to Ladd, he was also cited for OVI.

At the urging of police, Ladd called a friend to take custody of his children.
