YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Supporters of deported Youngstown businessman Amer "Al" Adi came out to his family's business, Circle Hookah, and Bar, Monday night.

Singer/songwriter Tom Manche performed the song he wrote about Adi's plight to come back to the place he calls home.

"Youngstown is my home," sang Youngstown native and Nashville singer/songwriter Tom Manche in a song he wrote about Amer Al Adi's plight to come back to Youngstown after being deported to his native country of Jordan.

"Last set foot in Jordan almost 40 years ago. It's bittersweet to be here cause of circumstances though," Manche sang.

21 News spoke to Adi on Facetime during Manche's performance of Welcome Home "Amer's Song" at Adi's business Circle Hookah and Bar.

"This is the America I know," explained Adi.

"We're brothers, not from the same mother, we're brothers and it proves that what happened is wrong," Adi said.

His wife, Fidaa Musleh, said, "We left for Brazil. He had applied for his naturalization at the time and when we came back they denied him and I applied for him once again. That's when the process started. They kept denying my application. It's been going on for 25 years."

His wife says immigration cited his first marriage a sham and his ex-wife filed an affidavit saying she was coerced to make the statement.

Manche has never met Adi but was touched by his story and wanted to show support through song.

"It touched me. Here's a guy ripped from his family. Beloved businessman, job creator. Really no valid reason in my mind why he should be booted," Manche said.

People came out to support Adi's family, Adi's efforts to come back to Youngstown, Manche's music, and to protest how Adi was treated by ICE.

"The man was leaving voluntarily, maybe on a bogus claim that he shouldn't be here, but they wouldn't sort it out in a humane way," said Tim McGarry, who attended the performance.

Now this song is helping the family keep the hope alive that they will welcome him back.

"He helps us keep the hope alive and keep our hopes up and keep us fighting to get Al back," expressed Musleh.

Adi remains hopeful that he will come back to the place he calls home —Youngstown.

His wife said Adi is ok in Jordan but he is sad that he has not seen his daughters in a few months. His wife continues to go back and forth. Daughter Lina Adi is running the businesses downtown.

"Welcome home, welcome home, I hope to God that's how my story ends with a welcome home, home to America" sang Manche.
