Union for Fresh Mark employees offering to help detained workers
The future for workers from Fresh Mark in Salem who were arrested by ICE agents Tuesday night for immigration violations isn't very clear.

SALEM, Ohio - The future for workers from Fresh Mark in Salem who were arrested by ICE agents Tuesday night for immigration violations isn't very clear.
21 News was told 17 of the 146 people arrested have been released but the rest remain at undisclosed locations.
The union which represents those workers says it is mobilizing and ready to offer assistance.
"We got a lot of money and we are going to help try to get them back to their families, whatever we need to do," said Randy Hadley, President of the RWDSU Mid-South Chapter. "We are going to offer legal assistance. We've got attorneys coming in that we are going to offer to them at no charge so we are not going to turn our backs on these people."
Hadley says the union has represented Fresh Mark employees for more than 20 years and they will be in Salem on Thursday.
"We at the RWDSU have put a task force together. We're gonna be meeting with the churches and leaders in the community in Salem and Massillon and we are going to do what we can do to help get these families back together," Hadley said.
While the raids are the result of Fresh Mark possibly knowingly hiring undocumented workers, Hadley says the union bears no responsibility in vetting the legal status of its membership.
"Our responsibility is to make sure that they come to work, they are paid the contract wages and they receive the benefits that union contract provides and they work in a safe environment, that's our responsibility," said Hadley.
Hadley says the AFL-CIO has also reached out and pledging to offer support.
