Home destroyed by fire on Ravine Rd. in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

A fire destroyed a home on Ravine Road in Youngstown early Saturday morning.

The Youngstown Fire Department says that around 2:30 a.m. they were called to the scene of a fire, and by the time they arrived the fire had destroyed most of the home.

Officials say that it appears to be a total loss.

The Youngstown Fire Department confirms that there was no one home at the time of the fire.

However, there were animals present in the home, and at least one of them died in the fire.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation.

    On Friday at 10:30 pm, Youngstown police were called to V2 Wine Bar Trattoria for a fight.  When police arrived they found a man on the floor with a head injury. Officers were told that another man, 51 -year-old Steven Jones, who was walking out of the bar was the one who allegedly hit the victim in the head with a chair.  According to the police report,  Jones grabbed the victim by the neck and then pushed the victim.     Youngstown Fire Station 15 is closed today due to injuries and sick call offs. According to Battalion Chief Charlie Smith, the city will not allow the station to call anyone else due to a city overtime policy.  Battalion Chief Smith says that response time may increase due to the closure.
