Stein makes verbal commitment to Ohio State University

Posted: Updated:
CANFIELD, Ohio -

Canfield senior wrestler and returning state champion Tyler Stein has verbally committed to The Ohio State University.

Stein won the Division II 220 pound class crown with 7-3 decision over Maumee's Brandon Phillips in March as a junior and finished the season 49-3.

The Buckeyes were NCAA runners-up and Big Ten Tournament champions last season.

His coach Stephen Pitts said, "The coaching staff is extremely proud of Tyler, not only for his athletic accomplishments but also in how he represents Canfield High School and the Canfield Wrestling Program. This is the fourth Division I recruit for our program in the last three years, with hopefully more to come."
