YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

One of 10 men rounded up in an underage sex sting operation in Mahoning County is headed for prison.

Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge Scott Krichbaum sentenced 51-year-old James Smith of Akron to one year in prison and further declared him to be a sex offender.
Smith pleaded guilty earlier to charges of importuning and attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Under Ohio law, importuning is the solicitation of someone for sex acts.

As part of the sentence, Smith has been declared a Tier Two sex offender, meaning when he completes his prison term he'll be required to report his address to authorities twice a year for 25 years.

Smith and nine other men were arrested in April after allegedly exchanging online messages with undercover agents posing as children as young as 12.
