Muscle Connection H.S. Football Preview: Austintown Fitch Falcons

Posted: Updated:

Austintown Fitch Falcons | Players: 62 | Offensive Starters: 4 | Defensive Starters: 5 | Seniors: 18

Veteran coach Phil Annarella is in his 12th season as the head coach at Austintown Fitch.

He's been at a head coach for 38 seasons and is in his 47th overall season.  The dean of area coaches has a record of 238-143-3.

After all those years he feels the Falcons have the most depth in some skill areas in 2018.

"Ralph Fitzgerald is back at wideout, Cory Vernon returns, Noah Jones is back at running back," said  Annarella. "We have a couple of two-year lettermen back in Tommy Leskovac and Dom Montalbano."

While Annarella likes the depth in some areas, guys playing both ways could take its toll. "Right now running back position is up in the air, and that will probably be by committee because a lot of the guys playing running back are starting on defense," Annarella said.

"We have a lot of open spots and we're banking on some guys stepping up and learning roles and be able to contribute," stated Annarella.

As the Falcons prepare for their season opener against Hudson, Annarella knows his team will be ready. "We're going to line up and play like we always do. We have great kids and I know they're going to push and work hard and people know every Friday night when we take the field, Fitch is there and we're going to play hard."
