BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Some area firefighters put their fire hoses to a different use today, all in the name of good fun and friendly competition.

Several departments took part in the Water Ball Battle as part of Summerfest on the Green in Brookfield.

The event, which was hosted by the Brookfield Fallen Firefighters Foundation, pitted three-man teams against each other to push a ball to the opposing goal post with their fire hoses in two-minute rounds.

It was a chance to have fun, compete, and also for families to cheer on their hometown team!

Randy Richman of the Brookfield Township Fire Department told 21 News, "It not only brings everyone together, but brotherhood is an important part of the firefighting community, and being able to keep that brotherhood and keep that sense of community, keep that alive in this day and age of technology, that's what it's all about."

This year's winning Water Ball team got to take home a new Husqvarna chainsaw for their department.
