MERCER, Pa. - A Sharon man who is already in prison now faces 46 charges filed in connection with the murder of a Sharon man whose remains were found in a shallow grave in Mercer County more than two years ago.
State Police say 42-year-old Christopher Shelatree was arraigned Monday for the killing of 49-year-old Joseph DiFrischia.
Authorities say they believe DiFrischia’s body was buried on private property along Mercer-West Middlesex Road in Shenango Township several months before it was discovered in August 2016.
Investigators say the body had been burned.
DiFriscia was reported as missing four months before his body was found.
It took investigators some time to positively identify the remains as that of DiFriscia's.
The charges against Shelatree include criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, aggravated assault, robbery, theft, forgery and others.
When the charges were filed, Shelatree was already serving a two-year prison term in the State Correctional Institution in Mercer for a 2017 conviction for receiving stolen property.
Shelatree remains jailed without bond awaiting a September 19 preliminary hearing.
