Duncan Hines recalls cake mix due to salmonella presence

Duncan Hines has recalled multiple cake mix products due to possible salmonella contamination. 

Conagra Brands has voluntarily recalled their Duncan Hines cake mix. Conagra Brands and health officials have found that a sample of the Duncan Hines Classic White cake mix may be linked to the salmonella outbreak. 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are investigating five occurrences where several individuals reported consuming cake mix at some point before becoming ill. 

Conagra Brands have recalled these products:

  • Duncan Hines Classic White Cake 15.25oz.

  • Duncan Hines Classic Yellow Cake 15.25oz.

Mar. 12-13, 2019 

Consumers who have purchased these items are asked not to consume them and return them to the store that they were originally purchased. 

Salmonella illness can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with a weakened immune system. 

Consumers with questions can call the FDA's consumer care team at 1-888-299-7646. The consumer care team is on at 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday.
