The Youngstown Phantoms (7-9-0-2) lost their 9th game of the season against the Madison Capitols 2-1 at the Covelli Centre on Saturday.

The first period would see very little action in terms of scoring as both teams failed to register a goal in the first 20 minutes. The first period would have 8 penalties, which included a game misconduct by Matthew Gould, of the Madison Capitols, for breaking the glass of the penalty box door.

In the second period, the scoring came alive, as defenseman Anthony Stark, scored a breakaway goal at 4:33 of the second period. With 1:29 remaining, Madison would extend their lead from another breakaway.

The third period began a fury of shots by the Phantoms trying to climb back into the game with redirections by Trevor Kuntar and Brett Murray. It wasn’t until 11:33 mark where Gianfranco Cassaro would put one past Garrett Mackay to get the Phantoms on the board. The Phantoms would be unsuccessful in the remainder of their attempts to score another goal.

The Phantoms are back in action next Friday, November 30th, at 8:00 pm as they take on the Fargo Force in the rematch of the Clark Cup Finals. Broadcasts will be available on HockeyTV and Western Reserve Radio.
