Mercer County, Pa. - A Mercer County lawmaker is expected to be on the other side of the law.

Pennsylvania State Police say State Representative Tedd Nesbit is expected to face charges of driving under the influence, after an incident over the weekend.

According to PSP, Nesbit was pulled over Saturday around 9 p.m. on Interstate 79 near Findley Township.

State police say Nesbit was observed committing "traffic violations" and was pulled over at which point he was allegedly found to be under the influence.

State police say charges are expected to be filed in the Mercer Borough Magisterial District court once lab results come back.

Speaking over the phone to 21 News, Rep. Nesbit said that the incident was a "horrible mistake".

Nesbit said, "I'm embarrassed". He continued by saying he'll "do anything to make it up".

Nesbit represents Pennsylvania's 8th Legislative District, which consists of portions of Mercer and Butler counties.

Rep. Nesbit was first elected to state office in 2014 and was reelected in 2016. Prior to serving in political office, Nesbit held several titles, including an assistant district attorney for Mercer County.
