A resource officer on leave from the Mathews School District is on vacation from his job as a Vienna Township Police Officer.

Township Police Chief Bob Ludt tells 21 News that officer Mike Sheehy decided to take some of his vacation time after he learned that the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation had been contacted about allegations regarding his job in the school system.

Sheehy has been placed on leave from the district as investigators look into what school officials will only describe as a “situation” not involving a student.

Superintendent Russell McQuaide told 21 News that when he became aware of the allegation, he notified the Vienna Township Police Chief, who in turn passed the information along to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Officer Sheehy, who presented DARE programs in the school district, was hired as a resource officer for the district's three school buildings in September.

Chief Ludt 21 News he hopes BCI can quickly wrap-up the investigation.
