Manufacturers team up with schools to promote training in Valley schools

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

As the need for manufacturers continues, the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition is hoping that partnerships with local technical schools will help.

The Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition (MVMC) announced the launch of a new partnership to promote local training programs for skills such as welding, machining and industrial maintenance with four schools around the area.

The campaign includes advertising, social media and more, all designed to attract enrollees to programs in welding, machining and industrial maintenance offered by:
Columbiana County Career & Technical Center
Eastern Gateway Community College
Mahoning County Career & Technical Center
Trumbull Career & Technical Center

According theo the MVMC, the demand for manufacturing skills reflects the national trend, with about 3.5 million job openings expected over the next 10 years due to growth and pending retirements of Baby Boomers.

A release says that skilled workers are needed to fill those positions.

According to officials, the average annual earnings for manufacturing employees in the Mahoning Valley are more than $68,000.
