BELOIT, Ohio - A teacher with the West Branch Local School District has been placed on leave pending an investigation involving a former student.

According to a news release issued Tuesday afternoon, the alleged incident happened in July 2015 at a location off of school property, but the release does not characterize what the alleged incident was.

Superintendent Tim Saxton tells 21 News he is consulting with Alliance and Goshen police, but that at this point there is no criminal investigation or report filed.

Saxton said the matter was first brought to his attention on Friday evening through a social media post.

Saxton said he placed the teacher on paid leave Tuesday morning and that this remains an internal investigation.
