YPD bomb squad commander/detective retiring after 33 years
After 33 years on the Youngstown Police Department, Lieutenant Doug Bobovnyik has officially retired.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - After 33 years on the Youngstown Police Department, Lieutenant Doug Bobovnyik has officially retired.
Lieutenant Bobovnyik's career included working as a supervisor in the YPD Detective Division.
He helped to investigate and make arrests in many cases during his tenure, including the Shannon Graves murder that captured national headlines.
Bobovnyik was also responsible for helping arrest and charge more than one dozen people in connection with the homicide of teenager Shawn Cortez in 2014. Two people were charged with murder, others faced charges of involuntary manslaughter, inciting a riot and felonious assault.
He also served as the Commander of the Youngstown Police Bomb Squad, answering emergency calls in several counties.
Lieutenant Bobovnyik said, "It's been a great career. I have no regrets, and it was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I have enjoyed meeting all the people I've come in contact with over the years at the Youngstown Police Department; as well as the people who I was able to serve in the public. I have made so many friends."
