Boardman Township Trustees voted unanimously Monday night to declare the Wagon Wheel Motel a nuisance over safety issues.

Chief Mark Pitzer said that the building would be a hazard to the public and firefighters if there was ever a fire there.

Pitzer said that his department went with the code enforcement bureau, of the state fire marshal's office, on an inspection in March and found multiple structural issues.

Chief Pitzer said by May 3, they noticed none of the issues they were concerned with were addressed and that they were even getting worse.

The owners of Wagon Wheel have 30 days to appeal the township's decision.
