Salad and sandwiches recalled for possible Listeria contamination

Fear of a Listeria Monocytogenes contamination has prompted Elevation Foods to issue a voluntary recall on containers of several salads and sandwiches they produce.

Those products are Archer Farms-brand egg salad, Freskëtbrand egg salad, tuna salad, Thai lobster salad, and Archer Farms-brand deviled egg sandwiches.

The recalled products were produced on June 18, 2019.

The FDA reports that Listeria Monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Those with healthy immune systems may also suffer some short-term symptoms, including fever, headaches, stiffness, and more.

It is believed that fewer than 1,087 cases with these products have been shipped and no illnesses have been reported.

Elevation Foods became aware of the problem after receiving positive test results for three containers of affected egg salad that had been sampled and tested by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Elevation Foods said it is continuing to investigate potential causes of the problem.

Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled products are urged to immediately return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Those with questions may call 866-761-9566 at any time.
