Overdose death rates released by Trumbull County

TRUMBULL COUNTY, OH -

Trumbull County officials have released the most recent overdose numbers in the area. 

From January 1, 2019, through July 4, 2019, 52 people died from overdoses in Trumbull County. 

Forty-two people died from overdoses from the beginning of January to the end of April. Ten died between the beginning of May and the end of July. 

Toxicology results from the Trumbull County Coroners Officer in 2018 shows fentanyl was detected in about 80% of overdose deaths.

Recent numbers show fatal overdoses in Trumbull County dropped 44% in 2018.

In 2017, there were 135 overdose deaths, compared to 76 in 2018.

Earlier in 2019, 21 News reported that overdose numbers were up this year compared to 2018.
