Mitch Davidson led the charge for the Penguins helping get Youngstown State an opening drive score. Davidson found Bryce Oliver for forty-five yards to move the ball inside the redzone. One play later, C.J Charleston hauled in a nine yard catch that led to a touchdown. YSU held a 10-7 lead at the end of quarter one.

In the second quarter, Dra Rushton ran up the middle for a score giving Youngstown State a 17-7 lead. The Penguins increased their lead by another score just before the half, this time from Davidson to Oliver. This twenty-one yard touchdown catch not only increased YSU's lead even more, but it gave Bryce Oliver the school record for most touchdowns caught in a Youngstown State career. This was touchdown number twenty-six for Bryce.

The Penguins lead grew steadily the rest of the game. Andrew Lastovka knocked down three field goals and Beau Brungard ran in a touchdown in the second half to cement a win.

Youngstown State wins 40-7 over Duquesne and advances to play Villanova in the second round of the FCS playoffs.
