There are only a few days left before the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, and The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste District and Trumbull County Tourism have announced that they are collaborating with Astronomers Without Borders to help recycle and repurpose eclipse glasses.

The District is going to collect used eclipse glasses at various spots across Trumbull and Geauga County, helping to extend their lifespan and support future solar eclipse events around the world.

The glasses collected will undergo quality assessment, and the ones in good condition will be sent to Astronomers Without Borders for reuse. Glasses that can't be reused will be responsibly recycled.

Current locations accepting eclipse glasses for recycling include:

Residence Inn by Marriott - 5555 Youngstown Warren Rd., Niles

Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton - 5581 Youngstown Warren Rd., Niles

City of Cortland Celestial Celebration - W. Main St., Cortland

Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District main office - 5138 Enterprise Dr. NW, Warren.

The Geauga-Trumbull Waste Management District main office will collect glasses Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4:30 throughout April.

More information about drop-off locations will be announced this weekend.
