Smoke and flames filled the sky over a Southside neighborhood in Youngstown Friday morning as a fire spread through a home.

Dispatchers got a call just before 4 a.m. that a vacant home was on fire along the 3500 block of Sheridan Road.

The firefighter first on the scene reported “heavy fire” coming from the back of the home.

Crews worked to keep the flames from spreading to neighboring homes.

The home was a total loss.

The rescue squad was sent to the fire.  21 News is working to find out if anyone was injured.
