A jury in the Mahoning County Courthouse returned a guilty verdict on Friday in the trial of a Youngstown man charged with a deadly shooting.

Following a week of trial, 20-year-old Mehki Venable was found guilty with an accompanied Firearm Specification for the murder of Jacob Moore.

“I’m sorry that Jacob Moore’s family had to deal with his senseless murder and their heartbreak,” said Prosecutor Gina DeGenova. “We are pleased with the outcome of the jury’s decision and would like to thank the hard-working prosecutors who worked tirelessly during this trial.”

Venable shot Moore on New York Avenue in

 

September 2022 after meeting with him for an arraigned fight. Moore was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital. 

Venable will be sentenced at a later date.
