A woman is behind bars after police say she stole a car from a man she had met on Facebook in Youngstown.

According to a police report from YPD, the incident happened back in March when the owner of the vehicle told police he recently started messaging a woman known as "Birdie" on Facebook.

Police say the two decided to hang out in person so the man picked her up in Girard in his 2016 Ford Fusion.

The man told police the woman complained about his driving, so he let her drive.

After awhile, police say the woman asked if the two could make a stop at her uncle's house on East High Street to retrieve some property from her brother followed by asking to go to another home in the area of the flea market on Jacobs Road.

The man told police upon arrival, he exited the vehicle and the woman drove off in his car. Police say the man called her via Facebook multiple times to ask her to bring the car back, but couldn't get a hold of her.

It wasn't until Thursday, April 18 when police located the vehicle when responding to an overdose call on Eliot Lane. Upon arrival, police located 26-year-old Alexandrea Kornegay passed out inside the vehicle.

Officers were able to identify the vehicle as the one that was stolen and also determined that Kornegay had numerous warrants from YPD and other agencies. According to the report, police were able to find a crack pipe and a lighter in Kornegay's possession.

Kornegay was taken to the hospital where a hold was placed on her.

She was booked in the Mahoning County Jail on Friday with jail records showing charges of receiving stolen property, theft, grand theft of a motor vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Court records do not show an arraignment date set for Kornegay at this time.
