The Windham community is still picking up the pieces from the tornado earlier this week that left some high school baseball players displaced.
Northeast Athletic Conference Commissioner Pat Guliano said he got a pleasant surprise Friday,
"I got a call from Windham high school principal Zac Burns and said parents of the Panthers baseball team collected $500 to take care of their displaced student athletes."
The NAC consists of 11 small schools from northern Trumbull County and schools from Portage and Ashtabula counties as well.
Students in the Windham school district returned to school Friday after being off Thursday.
