A woman is behind bars after allegedly breaking into a house and stealing a family's dog.

Heather Cutlip, 53, is accused of breaking into a home of a family that knew her son, according to a report by the Youngstown police Department.

She was charged with burglary and resisting arrest, according to court records.

The incident happened between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Manhattan Avenue on Monday, April 22.

Police say the house was reported to be ransacked, with photos slashed and the T.V. on the first floor had been destroyed by a knife and two Xbox Ones were destroyed. A third Xbox One was missing.

Additionally, beer had been poured over clothing belonging to the family of the house and a couch.

The family's dog, a three-year-old French Bulldog was missing, along with its cage.

Due to the nature of what was destroyed, police deduced the break in was possibly committed by someone they knew. During the investigation, Cutlip was allegedly heard outside yelling racial slurs at one of the victims.

She was later tracked down to a nearby street, where she allegedly turned her lights off and attempted to get away from police pursuing her.

Eventually, she was pulled over on Midland and Salts Spring Road.

During the stop, police say Cutlip repeatedly asked why she was being pulled over when officers asked for her license and registration. A large knife was observed in the passenger seat.

She soon admitted she had the bulldog in the back of the car, according to the report.

When officers attempted to arrest her, she reportedly resisted. The officer bear hugged her and took her to the ground to place her under arrest.

Cutlip suffered a cut on her left eyebrow and an ambulance was called.

She was taken to the hospital for her injuries.

Her first court date will be Wednesday, April 24.
