Boardman Local Schools has narrowed its superintendent search down even further with just two more candidates in the running to fill the seat of Tim Saxton who is set to retire in the summer.

The two remaining candidates include current East Palestine City Schools Superintendent Chris Neifer and current Struthers City Schools Superintendent Pete Pirone.

Other candidates who were previously up for consideration included West Boulevard Elementary School Principal Al Cervello and Joseph Clark, the superintendent of Westerville City Schools in the Columbus area.

A press release from the school district describes both Neifer and Pirone as candidates who bring with them "extensive experience and commendable references, reflecting their dedication and expertise in educational leadership."

The district's efforts to thoroughly vet both candidates and select which one will assume the role of superintendent is ongoing.
