Giant Eagle is now allowing Flashfood users to pay for food through Electronics Benefits Transfer (EBT).

This increases accessibility to those using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to pay for food.

The Flashfood app allows users to browse grocerey deals from their phone including meats, produce and dairy.

Purchases are made directly through the app, which can then be picked up from the Flashfood zone at participating Giant Eagle stores.

Program users save an estimated $1,100 a year on groceries, according to a news release from Giant Eagle.

Throughout the partnership with Giant Eagle, Flashfood has diverted 3.8 million pounds of food from reaching landfills, according to Flashfood.
