Explosives training happening at Camp James A. Garfield near Newton Falls this week

NEWTON FALLS, Ohio - If you live near Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center, you might hear some more noise than usual this week.
The camp will hold explosives training on Wednesday, May 7, and Thursday, May 8.
The Ohio Army National Guard's 147th Regiment will be doing training for soldiers taking the combat engineer course. Explosives are an important part of combat training, military readiness and simulates realistic battle conditions for Army engineers.
Sounds from the explosions may be heard farther away than it is during normal training. You may hear gunfire and explosions intermittently during training season which continues through September.
Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center has small arms and machine gun weapon ranges as well.
