CANFIELD, Ohio - The Mahoning County OVI Task Force will be conducting an OVI checkpoint Friday.

The checkpoint will take place somewhere in Mahoning County Friday, June 20. More specific details including the time and location will be announced on the day of the checkpoint.

This checkpoint will be accompanied by saturation patrols throughout Mahoning County during the weekend in order to keep impaired drivers off the road.

A 1990 U.S. Supreme Court ruling requires that drivers be notified before sobriety checkpoints are conducted to avoid violating constitutional protections against illegal search and seizure. The ruling did not specify what constitutes adequate notification.
