Poland 'Swing for JA Golf Classic' raises over $63K, scholarship presented

POLAND The Junior Achievement of Eastern Ohio (JAEO) played host to the community and participants of its fifth annual Swing Fore JA Golf Classic.
According to a news release, the game was held at The Lake Club, located at 1140 Paulin Road in Poland, on July 28, 2025.
More than $63,000 was raised as part of the event.
Money raised during the event will go towards supporting financial literacy programming for students in Trumbull County, Mahoning County, Columbiana County and Ashtabula County.
Additionally, a special scholarship was presented at the event to honor the former JAEO board member and avid supporter of youth financial education, Michael J. Alexander.
Alexander's wife, children and brothers were in attendance to present Lily Randall, a recent Brookfield High School graduate who will be attending Ohio State University, with a $1,000 check.

Randall, pictured above with her mom, will be pursuing a degree in Mathematics Education.
Before participants in the Swing Fore JA Golf Classic teed off, Penguin City Brewing offered a variety of locally made beers for the golfers to enjoy.
The release also states that Laura Wearn, a Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) professional, challenged the field to a closest-to-the-pin contest.
