GREENFORD, Ohio -  Although drivers are seeing more roundabouts at highway intersections, the Ohio Department of Transportation says they aren't the only tool to improve safety at intersections.

In the latest edition of its weekly video production, The Loop, ODOT provided an update on a four-way stop implemented in 2015 at the intersection of State Route 45 and State Route 165 in Greenford, Mahoning County.

Officials report that after seeing an average of four crashes per year with three injury crashes over five years, safety for road users has improved significantly, according to ODOT.

Since stop signs have been placed at each corner, there have been only seven crashes in the last five years. That is a crash reduction of nearly 70%, while injury crashes have been reduced by nearly 90%.

ODOT calls it a true safety success story.
