LIBERTY, Ohio - A tradition that began as a cookie and pizza-fueled thank you to loyal customers, has snowballed into a community appreciation event that gets locals lining up early.

Jimmy's Italian Specialties in Liberty showed its appreciation for its patrons Sunday morning. The first 50 customers received a swag bag complete with items from the deli and other local shops. Santa Claus also made an appearance in the afternoon to greet the shop's youngest customers.

Though the event has grown over the years, the original tradition of free pizza and cookies has not changed one bit. 

"We also had pizza and cookies available for everybody," Store Manager Frank Occhibove said.

Shoppers also took advantage of some last minute gift ideas supplied by the deli. From gift baskets to fresh pastries, Jimmy's had a wide variety of options available.

Going into the holiday week, Jimmy's Italian Specialties will be open to shoppers Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Christmas Eve from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
