COLUMBIANA CITY The Columbiana Community Foundation has awarded $25,000 to Columbiana Project Playground (CPP), with a parade and community watch party set for Jan. 2, 2026.

The parade event will feature the delivery of the new playground equipment to Firestone Park, escorted through town with the help of the Columbiana Police Department.

"The Community Foundation has supported us from the very beginning," Michaela Good, president of CPP, stated. "As we enter the exciting stage of bringing this project to life, their continued support means more than words can express."

In a CPP news release, the project states that the new playground design is meant to be inclusive and accessible for those of all abilities and will serve as a long-term investment in the well-being and vibrancy of Columbiana.

"The Community Foundation was one of our first supporters, and their continued support shows their dedication not only to this project, but to the community as a whole," Fritz Nelson, treasurer of CPP, stated.

A community watch party will take place at Birdfish Brewing Co. on East Park Avenue starting at 2 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2026. During the watch party, supporters and residents are encouraged to line the parade route and celebrate Columbiana's newest addition.

"With the equipment arriving on January 2nd in a parade through town, this dream is now becoming a reality," Good stated.

The original "Funland" at Firestone Park was built in 1995. Both the old and new park locations will be located at 338 E Park Ave.
