YOUNGSTOWN - On Sunday, December 28, Saint Columba Cathedral held its 'Jubilee of Hope' closing mass.

The Jubilee began on December 24, 2024, and will finish on January 6, 2026.

Bishop David J. Bonnar of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown presided over the mass with a focus on grace and hope.

"The graces from the pilgrimage, the new people we've met, the graces that have been enhanced through our prayer and through our collective celebration, so it's been a great moment for us," said Bonnar.

Bonnar also says that though the year 2025 is coming to an end, there is no reason to leave hope in the past and to embrace new hope in the new year.

Additionally, Bonnar touched on the recent changes coming to parishes and the Youngstown diocesan structure, focusing on the path forward.

"We have to live in reality and we have to trust that the front windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror. Our way forward is not through nostalgia or going back. We can be grateful for that, but we need to look forward in faith and know that God is going to provide," Bonnar said.
