Bond set for Farrell woman accused of injuring tow truck driver in crash

Bond was set on Tuesday for a Farrell woman charged in connection with a crash in Boardman that left a tow truck operator with severe injuries.
Bond for Asiah Linn Shivers, 25, was set at $5,000 after she was charged with OVI, obstructing official business, driving with an expired license and failure to control her vehicle.
Shivers pled not guilty to all of these charges.
Shivers was charged following the three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Southern Boulevard and Erskine Avenue on Thursday night. Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 9 p.m. and found an employee of Emerine’s Tow Company lying in the road with a severe head injury.
Investigators said the tow truck driver was wearing reflective clothing and was attempting to help someone whose vehicle was stuck in a snowbank. According to witnesses and evidence at the scene, Shivers was driving a gray Nissan Altima at approximately 40 mph when she struck the tow truck and its driver.
While at the scene, Shivers told officers that an unidentified man had been driving the car and fled on foot. However, witnesses reported seeing only Shivers exit the vehicle, and investigators found no footprints in the fresh snow to support her claim. Officers also noted that Shivers appeared to be sweating heavily despite the 5-degree temperature.
Shivers was initially arrested for interfering with the investigation after she refused to stay away from the vehicle and struggled with an officer. During questioning, police say Shivers admitted she had been drinking at a bowling alley and was the sole occupant and driver of the car. She refused to undergo sobriety or breath tests.
The tow truck driver was taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
