Tenor buys three more Pennsylvania hospitals

Tenor Health Foundation, which currently operates Sharon Regional Medical Center in Sharon, has purchased three more hospitals in Pennsylvania, expanding its presence in the commonwealth.
According to a press release from Business Wire, Tenor purchased the 186-bed Regional Hospital of Scranton, the 122-bed Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton and the 369-bed Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in Wilkes-Barre from Community Health Systems.
The three hospitals were purchased for $33 million in cash plus a $15 million promissory note. According to the release, additional cash considerations may be received contingent upon collections of certain patient accounts receivable over the next 90 days.
The two companies entered the agreement in October of 2025 and the closing was effective February 1, 2026.
Tenor Health Foundation took over operations at Sharon Regional Medical Center beginning in March of 2025, not long after the hospital shut down in January of 2025 due to the previous owner, Steward Health's bankruptcy.
This sale expands Tenor's presence in Pennsylvania, with the company now owning four non-profit hospitals in the commonwealth.
