COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio - A chartered tour bus driver for Calvin University—a private college located in Grand Rapids, Michigan—was arrested over the weekend by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force (MVHTTF).

A representative of the task force told 21 News the driver dropped off the university's swim team at a Saturday meet in Pennsylvania, before driving to Columbiana County where he had arranged drugs as well as prostitutes for a "party". When 51-year-old Stanley Purvis arrived at the meet-up location in the 56-passenger tour bus, he was arrested by MVHTTF.

The ad Purvis had responded to on January 30 was an undercover ad posted by the task force. In a text message exchange, Purvis confirmed where he was staying asked about prostitute rates, according to a MVHTTF report. The messages continued throughout the weekend, ahead of the arranged meet-up and Purvis continued to graphically describe his sexual intentions as well as the drugs he had obtained. Through those messages, the task force learned Purvis was driving a large "Holiday Travel" tour bus. 

After arresting Purvis, MVHTTF officers found what they believed to be methamphetamines in various forms, hypodermic syringes and other drug paraphernalia along with sex toys. Officers also reported they believed Purvis had already used methamphetamine prior to the arrest, based on his mannerisms at the time; Purvis denied using it on January 31, the date he was arrested, according to the report.

Purvis was released from custody on Monday after his bail was paid. As of Monday, Purvis has been charged with engaging in prostitution, possessing criminal tools, drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments. He is due back in court on April 7. 

According to the task force's report, the coach of the university swim team and the bus company's management were contacted. Calvin University had to arrange another charter bus to bring the swim team students back to the Michigan campus. Holiday Travel sent a driver to retrieve the bus, and the team's property the following day.
