Trumbull County Educational Service Center hosted the Junior High Prep Bowl Tournament on Saturday morning.

The tournament consisted of 17 teams from schools across Trumbull County and also Ashtabula County, where seventh and eighth graders competed in three rounds: a category round, an alphabet round, and a lightning round.

The tournament provides these students with the opportunity to showcase their knowledge, critical thinking skills, academic achievements and friendly competitiveness.

Families were also in attendance, cheering on their students' work.

"The families love this. We see extended families coming to support their kids. They really like to come and celebrate the knowledge that their students have," said Jaclyn Bingham, a gifted supervisor with the Trumbull County Educational Service Center.

On Friday, February 21, the center will host the Elementary Prep Bowl Tournament at Lordstown High School.
