Two federal buildings in Youngstown closed early on Monday, February 9, due to a lack of steam heat.

The early closure of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, located inside the Nathaniel R. Jones Federal Building, and the U.S. Courthouse, located at 125 Market Street, was announced in an email from the Clerk of Courts for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

The reason for the early closure is due to "an issue with steam heat not being supplied to the building."

As a result of the early closure, the public intake window will be closed and all hearings will be held virtually.

Within the city, 28 buildings are supplied with steam heat by SOBE Thermal Energy Solutions.

Recently, at the end Janaury into the beginning of February, several buildings in Youngstown closed due to a lack of heat in the buildings.

SOBE aimed to restore heat to buildings, bringing in and installing an 800-horsepower boiler. That boiler was officially installed on February 2, and heat started returning to buildings the next day.

21 News has reached out to SOBE President John Rambo to see if any issues have been reported with the delivery of steam heat to the above federal buildings, but has not heard anything back yet.
