Suspect in Coitsville Township officer involved shooting identified

COITSVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The U.S. Marshals have released the identity of the suspect shot in an officer-involved shooting in Coitsville Township last week.
Marshals identified the suspect as 75-year-old John Doyle, who was wanted by the Poland Township police department for failure to comply. A warrant for Doyle's arrest was issued on December 3, 2025.
Doyle was found living in a motorhome parked at a home at the end of Galluppi Drive in Coitsville Township.
Marshals say when officers confronted Doyle, he brandished a firearm and pointed it at them, prompting the officers to fire back. Doyle was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) has taken over the investigation of this shooting.
