Youngstown police arrest two after all-terrain vehicle pursuit

Two people were arrested Tuesday afternoon following a police pursuit involving all-terrain vehicles on Youngstown's east side.
Officers reported seeing three four-wheelers traveling north on Early Road near McGuffey Road around 4:20 p.m. When officers turned on their lights and sirens to signal a traffic stop, all three drivers fled.
One driver, identified as Jondel Estrada, attempted to turn around but drove off the side of the road and became stuck in a snow mound. Officers surrounded the vehicle and took Estrada into custody.
A second driver, a juvenile male, led police on a pursuit for several minutes through east side neighborhoods. Police stated the chase reached speeds between 40 and 50 mph. The pursuit ended near South Bruce Street and Shehy Street when Ortiz suddenly braked. Due to slick road conditions, a police cruiser slid into the back of the ATV. Ortiz then jumped off the vehicle and was caught by officers.
The juvenile was taken to the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center. He was charged with third-degree felony failure to comply with an order of a police officer, along with traffic citations for reckless operation and operating an ATV on public roadways.
Estrada was taken to the Mahoning County Jail on a felony charge of failure to comply and received a citation for riding an ATV on a public road. Both vehicles were towed and are being held by the police traffic department.
