Dense fog to open the week, mild air will prevail

Our three-week-old snowpack is quickly diminishing.
That’s because temperatures this weekend have stayed at or above the freezing mark for most of the last 48 hours.
As temperatures persist just above 32 on Sunday night, dense fog will be a possibility for most of the area. Fog will likely form starting around midnight and burn off a few hours after sunrise. For the rest of the day, conditions will remain quiet, with high temperatures in the upper 40s, over ten degrees above average. Partly cloudy skies will take us through the night, though there could be a few sprinkles as a meandering cold front looms over our area.
We’ll start the day off on Tuesday on another mainly sunny note. High temperatures will be in the mid-50s, almost 20° above average. Clouds will increase late before our next system moves in.
Some showers are possible late Tuesday night. Rain is expected to increase in intensity on Wednesday. Some of this rain could be heavy at times, and we cannot rule out the threat of thunderstorms before the day comes to an end. While it will be wet and breezy, temperatures will stay mild – in the low-to-mid 50s. Showers will largely end early in the evening.
A dry Thursday will be sandwiched between two wet days. As for the former, highs will be in the low-to-mid 50s with partly cloudy skies.
Another cold front could move through our area at some point early Friday, dropping temperatures closer to average as the seven-day forecast comes to an end. 50s at mid-week could turn into 30s during the final full weekend of February.
