Austintown students face schedule adjustments due to weather cancellations

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Austintown Local Schools has announced that students will have to make up any more weather-related cancellations. This could mean pushing back commencement for seniors at Austintown Fitch High School.
In a letter sent out to parents, the school district stated that if any additional school days need to be canceled due to weather, seniors will need to make up the lost instructional time to meet minimum state requirements. Austintown Fitch's graduation is currently set for May 17 but if severe weather causes any other cancellations, it would be rescheduled to May 18 or May 19.
Due to the number of weather cancelations already made by the district, the Austintown Local School District Board of Education stated in a separate letter to parents that March 13 will now be a regular school day for students. The day was previously listed as a professional development day for staff.
Administration at the district and Austintown Fitch stated that they will continue making families aware of any changes to the school year.
