Suspect in Coitsville officer-involved shooting indicted

COITSVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The suspect shot by police during a search warrant in Coitsville has been indicted.
According to a Mahoning County grand jury report, 75-year-old John Doyle was indicted on a charge of felonious assault with a firearm specification, as well as a third-degree felony charge of failure to comply with the signal or order of a police officer.
There is no word on an arraignment date for Doyle at this time.
Doyle was wanted by the Poland Township Police Department for allegedly fleeing a traffic stop in December of 2025.
He was eventually found on February 5 living in a mobile home parked in the driveway of a home at the end of Galluppi Drive in Coitsville Township.
U.S. Marshals say when officers confronted Doyle, he brandished a gun and pointed it at the officers, prompting them to fire back at him. No officers were hurt.
Doyle was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. Mahoning County Jail records show he was booked in jail on February 11.
