Struthers woman accused of recklessly driving while intoxicated with juvenile in vehicle

BOARDMAN - A Struthers woman is facing multiple traffic and criminal charges after police say she was recklessly driving with a juvenile in her vehicle.
According to a police report from Boardman PD, officers saw a 2009 Ford Escape driven by 45-year-old Delores Kitchen speed past another vehicle in a no-passing zone on Southern Boulevard near Mathews Road shortly after midnight on Saturday, February 21.
Police say the vehicle was going about 50 to 55 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone.
From there, police say the vehicle then sped past several more vehicles that were stopped at a red light and ran the red light, followed by doing the same thing at another intersection.
It was then that officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, which police say was continuing to accelerate, allegedly reaching speeds between 65 and 70 miles per hour.
At one point, police say the vehicle crossed into the oncoming traffic lane on Southern Boulevard near Lowell Avenue, nearly colliding with another vehicle.
Police say the vehicle finally pulled over on Midlothian Boulevard near Erie Street.
According to the report, all three occupants of the vehicle, including Kitchen, along with another 45-year-old male and a 12-year-old juvenile, were all ordered out of the vehicle one at a time.
Police say Kitchen was stumbling to the point of nearly falling and had a hard time following directions.
Kitchen allegedly told police she was coming back home from a restaurant and was in a hurry to get home and clean the apartment. She allegedly claimed not to have seen the police lights behind her.
Police say Kitchen admitted to having two drinks at the restaurant, one with tequila and one with vodka. Police conducted a field sobriety test on Kitchen, as well as a breathalyzer test.
Police say Kitchen had a blood alcohol concentration of .128, which is more than 1.5 times the legal limit.
Kitchen was given a court summons and is facing traffic charges of OVI and reckless operation, as well as criminal charges of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and endangering children.
Court records show Kitchen is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, February 24.
