CANFIELD - Members of the South Range Local School District's Speech and Debate team are headed to the Nationals.

Several team members have qualified for the 2026 National Speech and Debate Association (NDSA) tournament in Richmond, Virginia as a result of their standings at the NDSA Northern Ohio District Competition over the weekend.

The qualifiers will head to Richmond in June for the national competition.

The competition also got South Range Superintendent Jarred Zapolnik the "District Administrator of the Year" award for supporting South Range in co-hosting it.

The following students were finalists at the Northern Ohio tournament:

- Ruby Cleevly (4th in Original Oratory)

- JJ Kennedy (3rd place, 1st alternate in IX)

- Ashley Kersten (3rd place, 1st alternate in Info)

- Addie Sell (2nd place in Poi, National qualifier, turned down for preferred category)

The following students are 2026 national qualifiers:

- Steven DiMuzio / Lilah Angus (Public Forum debate tournament champions)

- Addie Sell / Harper Bailey (Duo interpretation tournament champions)

- Solena DeJesus (3rd place POI)

- Quincy Bailey (National qualifier for the second year in a row thanks to 12th place finish in last year's national tournament)

The following students are on the Middle School Nationals team:
