New Castle library closes Thursday over safety concern, police investigating

The New Castle Library is closed on Thursday due to a safety concern.
Andrew Henley, New Castle Public Library Director, said the library will be closed today, and the New Castle Police Department has been notified of the concern.
The post, shared on New Castle's Library Facebook page, reads, "The library will be closed to the public until further notice."
Henley told 21 News that once the concern is resolved, the library will reopen.
In a message to 21 News, President of the Board of Directors Dennis McCurdy stated that "the library director closed the library without seeking Board approval. There is no known threat and it is an internal problem we are dealing with."
21 News is working to get additional information on the nature of the concern and a possible date for the building to reopen.
