LISBON - A pool on Cedar Street in Lisbon will not be open to visitors this summer.

According to a Facebook post by Lisbon Mayor Peter Wilson, the Sadie Van Fossan Swimming Pool will not open in 2026 due to the pool's current condition.

Mayor Wilson states in the post that the pool needs its filtration system replaced, which would cost around $100,000. Additionally, the pool has been experiencing leaks because of concrete erosion.

The Sadie Van Fossan Swimming Pool was constructed back in 1956, and the deep end was built in 1979.

Mayor Wilson said there have been delays in testing leaks in the pool due to winter weather. He hopes the village gets these results and recommendations from a pool consultant next month.

In the meantime, Mayor Wilson said the village is looking to apply for grants through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources as well as the Ohio state capital budget, which could help cover the cost of repairs.

Mayor Wilson tells 21 News he is hopeful that the pool will open to guests in the summer of 2027.

"The pool is a definite asset for the community and provides a safe space for young and old during the summer," said Mayor Wilson.
