Ohio Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel's visit to East Palestine City Schools on Friday has been delayed.

Tressel was scheduled to visit East Palestine High School on Friday, February 27, to recognize the district's growth since partnering with a home-building company to help students achieve vocational readiness.

However, a spokesperson for the school district says this visit has now been delayed. No reason was provided for the delay and no rescheduled date has been set yet.

Tressel still has two other appearances in Columbiana County, at Crestview Elementary School and Columbiana Middle School, scheduled for Friday for the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge. A spokesperson for Tressel said these two events will go on as scheduled.

Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel was scheduled to speak on the trade partnership between HSH Contractor and the district.

East Palestine school's Build Trade program has recently expanded its curriculum through a hands-on collaboration with HSH Contractor, a company based in Lisbon.

"This partnership allows students to learn advanced, real-world techniques directly from active professionals, ensuring they are 'job-ready' upon graduation," the district stated in a news release.

Before Tressel was Lieutenant Governor, he served as the president of Youngstown State University for 10 years. He was also a football coach at YSU and Ohio State University.
